Biography

Dr. Gupta obtained his B.Pharmacy from Guru Jambheshwar University, India and his M.S. (Pharmaceutical Sciences) fromPoona College of Pharmacy, India.His project involved synthesis and evaluation of prodrugs of anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agents. Later, he underwent training at Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow, India in drug design and molecular modeling. His Ph.D. dissertation mainly focused on the design, synthesis and biological evaluation of mechanism based inhibitors targeting malaria. Dr. Gupta later joined University of Michigan (UM) as postdoctoral research fellow under Dr. Gordon Amidon at the Center for Molecular Drug Targeting.At UM, he was involved in the design, synthesis, in-vitro, in-situ and in-vivo evaluation of Influenza drugs and also MRI active contrast agents for diagnosis of solid tumors. He joined LECOM-School of Pharmacy in July 2009 as assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He is currently the Director of Center of Drug Delivery and Targeting (CDDT) at LECOM.
